The A Karcher Candy Company had started as a bakery. Over the years it expanded and changed, moving into candy and then other sidelines such as soda fountain supplies, beer distributor, post card distributor, paper box manufacturing. When Andrew Karcher died in the 1930's, the sidelines took on an added importance and an increased share of the business. In 1959 the Karcher Candy Co. ceased production.

The Rochons

Some time in the late 1860's Mitchell Rochon (B. @1830) and his younger brother Frank (B. @1830) came to Little Rock from Canada. The move wasn't a good one for Mitchell. He died in 1871 and is buried in Oakland cemetery. Frank managed to find a job as a butcher and a few months after his brother's death married his boss's daughter Clara George. Their daughter Minnie Rochon, was born in 1876, followed three years later by her brother, George Henry Rochon, named for his maternal grandfather. A few years later there was another daughter named Lulu, who died at age two of diptheria. She is buried at Calvary Cemetery. Their final child, Frank Rochon Jr., was born in 1884. Frank Sr. died in 1885, leaving Clara with three children to raise. Clara died in 1892, and was buried in Calvary Cemetary. The children lived with their maternal grandmother until her death in 1895. The eldest, Minnie married Andrew Karcher late in 1896. The youngest child, Frank Jr. shows up in the 1910 Census, working at Karcher Candy Co. Frank Jr. died in 1915.
